This depends on your situation, but we generally recommend renting for beginners. Kids grow fast, so renting avoids buying multiple instruments. Rent-to-own programs are a popular option.

Starting with classical fundamentals gives you the best technical base. The skills you learn from classical — tone, intonation, bowing — apply to everything. It's the fastest path to becoming a well-rounded player.
