Each of our violin educators is fully qualified and deeply experienced in string education. Holding accreditations across AMEB, Rockschool, and ANZCA, they ensure every lesson moves you forward with proper technique.

Individual Instruction

Private lessons are the gold standard for learning violin — which is why every lesson at Manhattan Music is individual. Your teacher focuses entirely on you, ensuring you build the right foundations every step of the way.

Strong Foundations

We emphasise proper technique, posture, and musicianship from day one. Getting the foundations right from the start means fewer problems later and creates players with the skills to tackle any repertoire.

Performance Ready

Performance is where violinists truly grow. Our regular workshops and annual concert give you the chance to take your violin from the practice room to the stage. Many students say performing is the highlight of their year.

Violin Styles We Teach

CLASSICAL & CONTEMPORARY

Our violin lessons span every major genre — from Baroque classics to folk, jazz, and everything in between. We tailor your repertoire and technique work to your musical interests. Students can also experience playing with others through our ensemble workshops.

Classical Violin

Master the rich classical repertoire from Baroque through modern composers. Learn proper classical technique, interpretation, and performance practice. Perfect for students pursuing AMEB examinations, orchestral playing, or chamber music.

Contemporary Styles

Explore violin in folk, Celtic, bluegrass, jazz, rock, and contemporary settings. Learn improvisation, playing by ear, and how to adapt violin to modern musical contexts.

Ensemble Playing

Through our workshops, violin students learn to play with other instruments, developing the listening skills and blend needed for chamber music, orchestras, and contemporary ensembles.

Whether your goal is classical mastery or contemporary exploration, we provide the technical foundation to play any style.

The best age to start depends on the individual, but age 5 is the earliest we recommend. We can advise on the right violin size for your child. Adults are equally welcome and learn very well.
