There are four main sizes, but most beginners start with soprano or concert. The soprano is affordable, portable, and sounds great. Concert or tenor may be more comfortable if you have larger fingers. Try before you buy — we can show you the difference at your lesson.

Getting set up is surprisingly affordable. Good-quality starter ukes are available from around $60, and all you need beyond that is a tuner. Your teacher can recommend specific models if you're not sure what to buy.
