CLASSICAL & CONTEMPORARY

Flute Styles We Teach

We cover all flute styles — from Baroque masterworks to jazz improvisation and beyond. We tailor your repertoire and technique work to your musical interests. Ensemble workshops are also available for students who want to learn collaborative playing.

Classical Flute

Master the beautiful classical repertoire from baroque through modern composers. Learn proper classical technique, interpretation, and performance practice. Perfect for students pursuing AMEB examinations or orchestral playing.

Contemporary & Popular Music

Explore flute in jazz, folk, world music, and contemporary settings. Learn improvisation, playing by ear, and how to contribute to modern musical ensembles.

Ensemble Playing

Through our workshops, flute students learn to play with other instruments, developing the listening skills and blend needed for chamber music and band settings.

    Flute Lessons FAQs

Children typically begin flute lessons between the ages of 8 and 10, when they have the breath support and hand size needed for comfortable playing. Kids under 8 often find the flute physically difficult to manage. That said, every child is different — get in touch and we'll advise.
