Bass Guitar Lessons Lower Plenty

Many of our bass students started on guitar. The fretboard knowledge transfers directly. Technique-wise you'll adapt quickly; musically, it's a rewarding new perspective.

We recommend learning both! Most bass players primarily use fingerstyle but also learn to use a pick for certain styles. We develop both skills so you're ready for any musical situation.

With consistent practice, many students are playing simple bass lines in a band setting within 3 to 6 months. Even simple, solid bass lines are valuable in a band. You'll have opportunities to play with other musicians at Manhattan Music.

Slap bass is one of the most requested techniques! We introduce slap and pop once you have good right-hand control and timing. It sounds impressive and it's a blast to play.

For most beginners a standard 4-string electric bass. Entry-level bass guitars are excellent quality these days and won't break the bank. We can provide specific recommendations at your first lesson. We also offer a lay-buy system to make it easier.
