With steady dedication, many students are playing simple bass lines in a band setting within 3 to 6 months. You don't need to be advanced to contribute to a band — a solid groove is what matters. We'll prepare you for band playing through our workshops and Rock Show.

We love teaching slap — it's one of the most exciting bass skills! We build up to slap technique once your fundamentals are solid. It sounds impressive and it's a blast to play.

The best beginner bass is a 4-string electric. Don't overthink it — a solid beginner model will serve you well for years. We're happy to recommend specific models based on your budget and preferences.
