PRIVATE VOCAL TUITION
Singing Lessons. Whether aiming to pursue a career in the industry, or simply creating a sense of self-worth, expression and confidence, each student at Manhattan School Of Music is encourage to develop and excel as an individual in a committed, learning and enjoyable surrounding.
Most importantly, the gift of singing and self-expression teaches students not only a life-long skill that they can enjoy with their peers, but also other qualities that will assist them in their career and in all facets of life. At the Manhattan School Of Music our teachers are not only committed and dedicated in instilling musical knowledge to our students, but also understand the importance in communicating and encouraging all students in making them feel comfortable and confident. By constantly raising the bar, we encourage and challenge our students to become the best that they can.
At the Manhattan school of music our singing method is suited to the Modern and Contemporary style of singing techniques using the mouth and its palate, vowel tones form speech, and correct breathing techniques through the diaphragm and abdominal area. This technique trains and strengthens the voice and concentrates on such areas as range, projection and control, diction, pronunciation and articulation, and confidence. Other areas include vocal care and warm up, proper posture, and harmonies, how to do them and when to do them. This method of singing is suitable for all styles of Modern and Contemporary singing including Pop, Rock, Soul, Jazz, heavy Metal, R&B, Country and Blues.
Concerts for vocal students are held towards the end of the year and we invite all parents, family, and friends to attend. The Grand Finale is the culmination of the student’s year; it is the most exciting time for them, performing in front of a vast audience and putting into practice all the skills and knowledge learnt throughout the year. We believe this is an enjoyable way to experience and observe the students, and see the difference in the level of self-confidence and the performance skills acquired.
Do You Want To Sing In A Band?
At the Manhattan School Of Music all students are encouraged to interact with others in a band or At MANHATTAN MUSIC all students are encouraged to interact with others in a band or group situation through our various workshops. Students will learn the importance of listening to other players, and will have a better understanding of co-operation and teamwork. Emphasis is placed on creativity, musical experimentation, and self-development. Students have the opportunity to express themselves and gain an understanding of their contribution to their performance, adding to their own self-worth. Students also benefit from acquiring skills to rehearse and develop a repertoire, enabling them to perform live in an ensemble/band situation. Our Band Workshops further teach students to be professional and organised, punctual, attentive, to compromise, and be respectful of others and their opinions. Band Workshops cover all styles of music including Pop, Funk, Rhythm and Blues, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Alternative/ Classical Rock. All students are, whenever possible, grouped into workshops with students of similar ability and age, in order to maximise their learning opportunities. Band Workshops are a fantastic introduction to students who have never performed in an ensemble/band situation. Student levels of co-operation, enthusiasm, attentiveness, and concentration increase during these workshops. These are personal skills that will benefit the student in any task they undertake throughout their career.
