ABOUT THE SCHOOL
MANHATTAN MUSIC is a unique music school in Melbourne's North, Eltham, we offer the opportunity for students to both properly learn and enjoy the art of music. Whether aiming to pursue a career in the industry or simply creating a sense of self-worth and confidence, each student at MANHATTAN MUSIC is nurtured and encouraged to develop as an individual in a committed, learning, fun and enjoyable surrounding.
Most importantly, the gift of music teaches students not only a life-long skill that they can enjoy with their peers but a better understanding of co-operation and team work, including other skills which will assist them in all facets of life.
At MANHATTAN MUSIC, teachers are not only committed and focused in instilling musical knowledge to students of all ages, we understand the importance in communicating and encouraging all students in making them feel comfortable. By constantly raising the bar, we nurture and encourage our students to become the best that they can.
As well as having your lesson, practice is required to learn your instrument. Usually a minimum of 15min per day is a good place to start. The more time you spend practising the quicker you will find yourself picking things up and enjoying your instrument.
These days most beginner instruments are inexpensive and we can help you find something that suits. Instruments such as Saxophones, Drum kits etc. can be more expensive. We offer a “take home lay-buy” system where MANHATTAN MUSIC students can take home their instrument and make instalments each time they come to their lesson until it is theirs.
Lessons are generally recommended from an age of 5yrs onwards although we have had some 4yr olds depending on the individual child. Our eldest student is 91yrs of age so you see that it really does not matter how old you are and that age is absolutely no barrier.
